Textbook: Ronaldo Header Buries Barca

From a 5-0 shellacking, to a 1-1 man-down draw to today, a 1-0 Copa Del Rey win on the strength of a near-perfect header by Ronaldo.

Is Real Madrid crescendoing at the right time? Maybe….maybe…

    Why didn’t Valdes play?

Because Pinto had previously started all the Copa Del Rey games and Guardiola believed that he deserved to start the final as well.

  3. Real really stifled Barca’s passing game and creativity last night and for much of the weekend game. Wonder if Pep has the chops to out-Mourinho Mourinho in the Champion’s League. Barca’s got the easier schedule the rest of the way in the league, but a single draw and a tough first Champions League Semi leg could see Real pull ahead and capture the unlikliest of trebles.

Late to the comments but at what point do we have to stop saying the “Special One” with a smirk on our faces. He’s annoying as hell but wow does he ever get his teams to play their collective asses off in a style that cannot be enjoyable to practice or play. Taking that middling Inter side to the CL title last yr should have silenced his critics but these last 2 efforts just validate his tactics and, unfortunately, his rampant ego. In big games he owns Barca. That’s scary.

I thought the Barca goal was onside but I can’t give Mourinho enough credit in getting those underacheiving divas to finally live up to their potential and win some kind of trophy.

The thing that makes me smile is Mourinho criticised teams that used to ‘park the bus’ against his Chelsea side, but he does the same thing with his teams.

Biggest difference is the talent he has at his disposal… one thing for Pulis or McCarthy to do vs Chelsea with their Stoke or Wolves sides because they’re massively over-matched talent wise. Not sure that’s the case with Mourinho’s sides vs Barcelona.

And to say he ‘owns Barca’ is slightly off the mark. How can you say that when they rode their luck and relied on the keeper too often? Yes, Casillas is part of the team, but to me, that doesn’t mean that you’ve out-coached the other team.

His teams do remind me of Arsenal under George Graham.
