MacMath in for the young guys, I take it? Didn’t look too sharp on these

The u23’s seem pretty happy with the way the run of play went, despite the score – is that a good or bad thing?

Hahaha! Good or bad thing indeed. U-23’s looked like they did really well. And they played w/o Boyd and Gyau. Plus, the Olympic team will LIKELY (though who knows how this will break down with WC qualifying), have Shea on the field as well. Who was arguably the best player on the pitch.

Not sure Gyau’s among the best XI for u-23. I think he’s been a little overrated by American fans because he’s so flashy. (At any rate, I doubt he’ll be available for qualifying.)

Maybe. I’m basing my observation more on the reporting done by the various US soccer journalists out there, than on anything I’ve seen personally. He’s poised to break into Hoffenheim’s 1st team. Outside of Boyd and the established senior team guys that might play for u-23, who has that kind of credibility?

Back to the good/bad thing dilemma, the second scrimmage was 1-1, and Benny admits to the younger guys dominating possession both times out:
