Starting line-ups shortly….as well as some Fabian Johnson, Edgar Castillo & Terrence Boyd too?
Will Boyd go Matrix in this series?

Sorry- off topic- can’t help it….
but the Union just lost to the worst team in the history of MLS. The Union produced 0 shots on target in the first half, and then the new acquisition Lahoud literally wiffs on a clearance in the box, nearly gives away a PK, then allows the centering pass for the goal in a matter of seconds.

Still trying to find a working stream due to not being able to view NBC Sports Network. Thanks Comcast for playing hardball!
If anyone finds one and posts it it would be much appreciated!!!

USA: Howard; Johnson, Bocanegra, Cameron, Cherundolo; JOnes, Edu, Bradley, Torres; Boyd, Donovan
Posted by Berniebernier on 2012/05/26 at 4:29 PM
Interestingly US Soccer released it as a 4-3-3 however looks like a 4-4-2 diamond Torres not a wing.

Starting lineup according to another site: Howard, dolo Cameron, boca, Johnson, edu, Bradley, jones, Donovan, Boyd, torres

Couldn’t Klinsmann have squeezed a couple more central midfielders in that lineup?
Posted by schmutzdeck on 2012/05/27 at 8:59 AM
It’s apparent JK does not use the same terminology as the fans do.
Where fans see central defensive midfielders, Klinsman sees midfielders,i.e. players who can attack and defend and he expects them to do both.

Cameron and Boca? Is Cameron playing RCB?
If Castillo doesn’t play LB this game, I’m assuming we’re not going to see much of him. Not that I’m complaining.
So a 4-3-3?
Posted by Byrdman on 2012/05/26 at 5:26 PM
Great pressure from Boyd to force the turnover that lead to goal. Nice job young man.

I was going to say nice pass from Torres but then hoaaaaaaa bradlet
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2012/05/26 at 5:33 PM
MICHAEL ****ING BRADLEY.
Wow. That was a bomb of a shot.
Posted by Crow on 2012/05/26 at 5:33 PM
HOly hell Michael Bradley.
Where is dirkanovich???
Posted by John henry on 2012/05/26 at 5:43 PM
Nice run from johnson
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2012/05/26 at 5:57 PM
Boyd almost completed a great header there on the break. Landon was filling and had space if that doesn’t get deflected by the defender sprinting through.
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2012/05/26 at 6:00 PM
…and then he goes and squanders a great cross on the counter.
Posted by Crow on 2012/05/26 at 6:09 PM
The cross was a bit long but he should’ve done better. I like Torres’ composure after that failed chance in the box even though his pass should have been a bit better.
Posted by Sean Tuxill (@thebostinian) on 2012/05/26 at 6:47 PM
I was looking for more pace on his pass as well.
Posted by John henry on 2012/05/26 at 6:07 PM
I can’t think of another example of the yanks playing a European team and being clearly, visibly better at every position.
What happened on that goofy own goal? Was that Cameron not used to being on the right side of the field? Or just a fluke?
Posted by Ufficio on 2012/05/26 at 6:14 PM
I really want to see Boyd get his first senior goal this game. So many decent chances…

The uniforms look much better with the numbers and on the players than they looked in pictures. Don’t like the silver numbers.
Posted by Crow on 2012/05/26 at 7:32 PM
My thoughts exactly on both of the jerseys.
Posted by Ufficio on 2012/05/26 at 6:46 PM
Donovan should have a public mid-career crisis every week.
Posted by Seybold on 2012/05/26 at 6:51 PM
The weight of Bradley’s forward passes is amazing. And nearly always looking forward! Italy’s done wonders for him.
Posted by schmutzdeck on 2012/05/26 at 8:13 PM
I saw his do that at BMG on occasion.
But you are right, he is as assured and confident as I have seen him in a long time
Posted by narkid on 2012/05/26 at 7:28 PM
this team has chemistry.
Posted by mbw on 2012/05/26 at 7:48 PM
Most fun I’ve ever had watching a team in a Christmas-tree.
Posted by BernieBernier on 2012/05/26 at 8:15 PM
So against Brazil, we slide Dempsey in for Torres, Altidore in for Boyd. Question is does Torres slot in for Jones?
Posted by mbw on 2012/05/26 at 8:22 PM
I was wondering this, too. Those changes make sense, but on the other hand, Torres did pretty well tonight — combined well with the three central players and Johnson. Since Jozy’s getting in Monday, maybe just slide Dempsey in for Boyd? Can’t see Jones coming out.
Posted by BernieBernier on 2012/05/26 at 8:55 PM
Good point. Second question. Come Antigua, what is the line-up?
I am really liking:
Dempsey – Altidore – Donovan
———–Torres – Bradley
Johnson – Gooch – Boca – Dolo
Can play as a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 or even a 4-5-1 as we need. Bradley is the engine that makes this formation work. Sub Jones for Torres if we need a little more D.
Posted by Jared on 2012/05/28 at 7:29 AM
Maybe slide Jones back to Edu’s spot with Torres moving into Jones more forward spot. I thought Edu gave the ball away too much.
